Expo visitors exceed 51 million

Some 296,500 people entered the Expo site by 9pm yesterday, bringing the total number of Expo visitors to more than 51 million so far.

Among yesterday's visitors, 113,500 came in tour groups. A total of 40,840 tickets were sold at the gates, 10,558 of them for evening visit.

As of 6pm, 57,000 visitors had passed through Houtan entrance, compared with 46,000 at Shangnan Road entrance, 50,000 at Changqing Road entrance and 33,000 at Gaoke Road entrance.

As many as 124 shows were performed at Expo venues from morning to 10pm yesterday, attracting 181,000 spectators. Some 5,657 volunteers worked on the site.

Five on-site health clinics treated 240 visitors yesterday by 4pm.

The Expo Organizer expects some 120,000 group visitors today and advices people to visit the Expo now to avoid big crowds during the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 22 and the National Day holiday from October 1 to 7.
