Macao chief to officiate at the opening ceremony of Macao Week in Expo

Chief Executive of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Chui Sai On left for Shanghai Tuesday to attend the opening ceremony of Macao Week in Shanghai Expo.

Chui, who is to visit Shanghai and Hangzhou from Oct. 12 to 16 for a five-day visit, led a 90-strong delegation comprising government officials, tourism industry representatives including members of the Tourism Development Committee and Macao Grand Prix Committee.

According to Government Information Bureau of Macao SAR, Chui will officiate at the opening ceremony of Macao Week in Shanghai Expo on Wednesday.

Chui thank the central government and Organizing Committee of Shanghai Expo for giving Macao a chance to showcase its development before leaving for Shanghai.

According to the schedule, the variety of activities of Macao Week will include parades, cultural performances, photo exhibitions, "The Decade of Achievements Exhibition for the 10th Anniversary of the Macao SAR", Macao World Heritage Photo Exhibition and stage performances at the World Expo site and the Financial Plaza on the Bund. Almost 450 performers from Macao will take part in the event.

After Shanghai, Chui will head for Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, where he is scheduled to spend two days to learn more about the development of Yangtze River Delta region.
