More pavilions at the 2010 World Expo are offering direct access to low-carbon transport card holders.

From October 13 until October 21, people can skip the long queues at the pavilions of Finland, the Netherlands, Poland, the State Grid, Lithuania, Estonia, Czech, Spain and the "We Are Family" Pavilion with a special 40-yuan (US$5.99) transport card bought at the Expo site.

The Luxembourg Pavilion will replace the Spain Pavilion in allowing direct entry to low-carbon transport card holders from October 22 to 31, while the privilege for the other eight pavilions will remain valid.

The card is called "low-carbon" because each one purchased can help the buyer to offset one ton of carbon dioxide emission he or she creates during travel.

The card was issued by the Expo organisers and half of the income will be used to plant trees and support projects to cut carbon dioxide emissions. The green transportation program was launched in May last year.

People can buy low-carbon transport cards at www.dzpw.com, www.yihaodian.com, Home Inn branches and the "We Are Family" Pavilion. Details are available at www.cleanair.net.cn (in Chinese only).

About 10 pavilions have participated in the event as they regard those who contribute to a low-carbon Expo as their VIPs and operators of these pavilions hope people can understand and promote the concepts of low-carbon, environmental protection and sustainable development during the visits.
