The exhibition displays the creativity and excellence of Italy's design.

An Italian jewellery exhibition by the Archaeological Museum of Taranto and the Bulgari Museum is being held at the Italy Pavilion.

"Gold of Taranto" features 80 pieces dating from 600 BC to the 19th century. Gold rings, crowns, earrings and bracelets are just some of the items on display.

Exhibited alongside is Bulgari's Vintage Collection consisting of approximately 40 unique creations from the 1920s to the 1990s.

The show displays the creativity and excellence of Italy's design as well as its designers' outstanding craft and efforts in making the Italian brand famous across the world, said Beniamino Quintieri, Italy's commissioner general for Expo 2010.

Jewellery design has a long history in Italy, which can be traced back 3,000 years to when the Etrurian civilisation boomed.
