The grandest work of architecture in the World Expo Park, China Pavilion, has found its way onto the stage of China Fashion Week in Beijing.

A fashion show featuring Chinese red with trendy cuts inspired by the iconic structure has grasped the attention of viewers alongside the catwalk.

With the image of China Pavilion illuminated on the background, Chinese supermodel Lü Yan strutted down the runway. Her dress was inspired by the fashion of ancient China, with the staple color being red, and Chinese peonies on the sleeves.

All the models wore a traditional hair bun, and elegant make-up, to go with the dresses that all featured elements of Chinese architecture, and floral designs.

Chinese red, the name of the game, is highlighted in varied styles, either the shoulder strapped gowns, or the heavily decorated waist hugging dresses.

Other hues like green and blue offered a strong contrast and desired complement to the red, to better present the shades found in ancient architecture, the inspiration of the collection.

The transition between colors enhanced the mystic oriental flavor.

The final, standout piece was a trailing evening gown with paillettes glittered on the waist and shoulders. It was again Lv Yan wearing it, leaving the audience an aftertaste of fiery Chinese red.
