Temporary barriers are set up to prohibit visitors from climbing over relic sites at the Dashuifa area in Yuanmingyuan, or the Old Summer Palace in Beijing on October 12, 2008.

Barriers which were temporarily set up during the past National Day holiday to prohibit visitors from climbing over tangible relic sites at the Old Summer Palace in Beijing will become a routine in the future.

The measure was introduced to protect the Dashuifa and Yuanying Temple, symbol of the palace, and received wide support from visitors, according to the Beijing Times.

The ruins are the remains of the irreplaceable European baroque architectures that were burned down by the Eight-Power Allied Forces that invaded China during the late Qing dynasty. They represent the belief that China's history of humiliation can't be forgotten.
