Heavy rainstorms forecast for eastern China

The National Meteorological Center (NMC) said Sunday rainstorms would sweep parts of east China from Sunday to Monday, with some areas getting thunderstorms, gales or hail stones.

The rainstorms are forecast to arrive in the eastern provinces of Shangdong, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong.

NMC weather man Qiao Lin said the area the rainfall from April 17 to 20 would be the largest this year. It might cause floods and landslides in the provinces of Sichuan, Guizhou, Hubei, Shanxi, Henan, Anhui, Hunan, Jiangxi and Guangdong, as well as Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, he said.

He also warned people of thunderstorms, gales and hail stones.
