Pudong New Area government today launches two new hotlines and a Website for visitors to book discount travel coupons in response to the enthusiasm that met the scheme yesterday, the first day the coupons were given out.

About 30,000 pamphlets were handed out in the city yesterday and a total of 50,000 will be distributed in Shanghai before the May Day holiday.

"My daughter's friends will come to Shanghai during the May Day holiday," a resident told Shanghai Daily at the Tourist Information and Service Center in Jing'an District yesterday. "She asked me to get the coupons for her friends because she has to book hotel rooms for them."

Visitors can get discounts of from 100 yuan (US$14.65) to 300 yuan at hotels and visit tourist resorts at discount prices in the area.

Each pamphlet could save each visitor up to 3,000 yuan and is valid from Friday until the end of August.

The Pudong Economic Commission today launches two hotlines (5190-6290 and 5851-1202 ext 115) for visitors to reserve a pamphlet. They are open from 9am to 5pm. Visitors can also visit tttrip.online.sh.cn to apply for the pamphlets. The Website and the hotlines are in Chinese.

In total, 310,000 pamphlets will be distributed over the coming months.
