Scenic spots in Qingdao, a coastal city of Shandong Province, saw a surging number of tourists during the week-long Spring Festival holiday, data from the city's Tourism Administration showed on Sunday.

During the holiday that started on Jan. 22, about 1.32 million tourists visited scenic resorts in the city, up 18.28 percent year-on-year.

Qingdao Underwater World received a total of about 51,000 tourists during the period, up 12.7 percent from the same period of last year.

The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on Jan. 23 this year.
