A variety of specialty food from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, Russia and other countries and regions appeared at the 23rd annual Haiyun Temple Fair that kicked off Tuesday in Qingdao City, Shandong Province.

The six-day event features more than 100 activities and a display of over 20 works of folk art.

In addition, a total of seven national and provincial intangible cultural heritage items, such as shadow plays, will be showcased at the fair.

With a history of more than 500 years, the Haiyun Temple Fair edged onto the list of the top 10 Chinese folk festivals named by the Ministry of Culture in 2005 for profound and unique folk culture. The fair attracts millions of visitors from home and abroad every year.
