Qingdao girl to set off for Clipper Race

Qingdao girl Song Kun will step on the Qingdao Yacht competing in the final leg of the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race which will starts from New York on June 7.

This will be the fourth time the city in China's Shandong province has fielded an entry. Qingdao's participation in the Clipper Race has been instrumental in the city's emergence as a world class sailing venue and helped secure the rights to stage the sailing events of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race started from Southampton on the south coast of the UK on July 31, 2011 and will end there on July 22, 2012 after taking 51 weeks to travel over 40,000 miles visiting 15 ports of call on six continents.
