Qingdao municipal government is scheduled to land 3.3 billion yuan (US$ 519 million) in funding to build a 300,000-square meter cultural center in the northern part of the city, according to a recent cultural construction program issued by the General Office of the government.

According to the program, the cultural center includes a 70,000-square-meter library, a 40,000-square-meter public art center, a 50,000-square-meter museum, a 30,000-square-meter art gallery, a 30,000-square-meter entertainment building and an 80,000-square-meter archive.

The center is designed to become a blue economy park having influence over the whole Shandong peninsula, a major cultural district, a base to hold public cultural events and a destination to cultivate cultural talent.
