The Laoshan Mountain Blueberry Orchard in Qingdao City received tens of thousands tourists per day after a blueberry picking festival was recently launched in the orchard, the orchard’s general manager Lu Yang said.

According to Lu, the orchard is expected to yield 80 tons of blueberries this year, over three times more than the yield of last year.

Located in the upper reaches of the Laoshan Reservoir, the orchard covers an area of 33 hectares with more than 10,000 blueberry trees in 12 species, which is able to accommodate 50,000 tourists to pick.

The orchard is blessed with spring water irrigation, fertile soils, temperate climate, ample sunshine and sharp change of temperature between day and night. The blueberries growing in the orchard have become the first option for picking due to their great taste.
