The Institute of Acoustics affiliated with Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) will build a research, development and industrialization base in the city of Qingdao. The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Qingdao High and New Technology Industrial Development Zone on October 26, 2012.

With a planned investment of 260 million yuan (US$ 41.65 million), the base will include Qingdao Branch of Institute of Acoustics affiliated with CAS, Qingdao Guoke Acoustics Engineering Tech Development Center and Qingdao Acoustics and Information Processing Industrial Park affiliated with CAS.

The new base is expected to become an influential and demonstrative industrial park featuring marine acoustics instruments and equipment production, sound and vibration control, speech and audio signal processing and other forefront technologies.
