The new west coast district of Qingdao is a key district in the Shandong Peninsula Blue Economy Development Planning.

The CBD of the district focuses on high-end business, science and innovation, cultural tourism and exhibitions, as well as aims to create an international center for finance, shipping and statistics of Northeast Asia.

The CBD will strive to complete infrastructure construction within the next two years. The CBD will form initially in three to five years and is set to become a new and modern international harbor city that houses 280,000 and forms an important stage for national blue economy.

With a total planning area of 30 square kilometers, the CBD includes Lianghe in the west, Ganhezi River in the east, Xiaozhushan Mountain in the north and Binhai Road in the south, covering 23 villages and 14,606 people in total.

Zhanghao, general manager of Western Coast Development Group, said that the construction of the CBD adopts many new concepts such as green, ecological and environmental ideas, as well as energy saving and science and technology.

The CBD will be built as an international city combining mountains, water, islands, reefs, beaches and rivers. The "Manhattan" of Qingdao is set to take shape in the near future.

Expectations are the CBD will become a calling card for Qingdao, and the whole of Shandong Province, as well as a model for any international harbor city.
