According to Shandong News Network of Shandong Radio and Television News Center, the construction of Metro Line 1, Line 4, and Line 6 in Qingdao City has been recently approved by the National Development and Reform Commission.

The three projects cover a total construction length of 109.1 km of railway. Together with the construction of Line 3 and Line 2, Qingdao will form the metro network backbone of approximately 160 kilometers, covering the city's six districts and major external transport hubs. By then, the metro network will be connected with Qingdao Railway Station, Qingdao North Railway Station, five long-distance bus stations and Liuting International Airport, initially forming an integrated public transport system with railway transportation complementing the city’s regular transportation system and a variety of other means of transportation coordinating the development of the city.
