The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) Diabetic Foot Healthcare Center opened on March 12 in Qingdao. The IDF will hold events including technical training and academic discussion from March 12 to 16.

It will also hold consultations with the Qingdao government, healthcare and social medical insurance administration departments on prevention and cure of diabetic foot, prevention of chronic diseases and health care costs.

The Qingdao Endocrinology and Diabetes Hospital proposed the establishment of the center at the end of 2013, because of the weak prevention and control of diabetic foot in China. Finally, it got the support of the IDF.

It is the only diabetic foot healthcare center supported by the IDF in the Asia-Pacific Region. In order to support the center, the hospital prepared a 2,000 square meter area for the construction of the healthcare center that will serve as the place for education, diagnosis, treatment and remote consultation.

IDF is an international organization with more than 230 national diabetes associations in more than 160 countries, aiming to increase public awareness, encourage good health and promote the exchange of high-quality information about diabetes worldwide.
