The Lotus, a dance drama featuring Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes in Gansu province, will impress local residents in Qingdao, Shandong province, on April 25, the Qingdao Daily reported on April 21.

The Lotus is adapted from a legend about a monk named Yue who was believed to have carved the first cave of Mogao Grottoes, a collection of ancient Buddhist cave artworks. Most of the movements involved in the dance drama are inspired from the murals on the grotto walls of Mogao. The image of Buddha with lotus-shaped gesture is utilized to express the beauty of the humanity. The Lotus is directed by Zhao Xiaogang who was involved in the creation of classic dance drama Silk Road, Strewn with Flowers, which has been performed in more than 20 countries, including in Japan, Italy and France.

The dance drama will be held at the Qingdao Grand Theater. Ticket prices range from 80 yuan ($13) to 280 yuan ($44.7).
