Qingdao Micro Film Competition is held from June 8 to October 20, 2015, in Qingdao, a coastal city of east China’s Shandong Province.

Sponsored by the Information Office of Qingdao Municipal Government, the event is a nationwide platform with the aim of building the city’s micro film brand and expanding its influence by way of encouraging high quality micro films with strong Qingdao features.

The first micro film competition in 2013 received a total of 207 works, among which 100 were from universities and middle schools, 25 from Beijing, Shanghai, Anhui and other cities and provinces, and one made in cooperation between China and Germany.

The city hopes to build on the success of the first competition and make better use of the platform to tell Qingdao’s own story. Therefore, the Information Office co-organized the second competition with the Qingdao Radio, Film, and Television Media Co. Ltd.

All entries in competition need to be related to Qingdao and their shooting location should be Qingdao.

The films should reflect the economy, politics, society, culture, and folklore of the city in Chinese or other languages and focus on themes such as youth, ideals, love, city life, family, and friendship in genres of feature film, documentary or musical. The works should demonstrate positive values without sex, violence, and bloodshed and be uploaded in the formats of MPEG, MP4, MOV, and AVI.

The length should be less than 25 minutes with resolution no less than 1,280 by 720.

Contestants should access the website: http://qd.sina.com.cn/zt/qdwdyds, and complete application form and upload their film before 12:00 noon on Oct. 20, 2015. The public will vote from 12:00 noon, Oct. 20, 2015 to 12:00 noon, Oct. 27, 2015. A team of specialists and the public will jointly judge films.
