To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, the municipal government of Qingdao held a campaign to promote its city's profile. Qingdao's abundant tourism resources, as well as its importance in China's "Belt and Road" initiative, were presented to the Thai people.

Taking the chance of 2015 Thailand Tourism Showcase in Koh Samui on Aug. 22, 2015, Qingdao tried to make itself better known to people through onsite introductions, picture displays, videos, etc.

This seaside city profiled itself as a livable dwelling place featured with charming natural and cultural landscapes, and as a city with advantages in various fields such as marine science and technology, tourism, transportation, manufacturing, cultural industry, education and so on.

During this campaign, representatives from Qingdao met with officials from Tourism Authority of Thailand, and received interviews from Sanook.com and kapook.com, the two major portals of the nation.
