Australia-funded bank in China sets branches in Qingdao

Sun Fang'an, the Australian ambassador to China, and Mike Smith, the president of Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Limited, attended the opening ceremony.

Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Limited China (ANZ China) declared the establishment of branches in Qingdao on Sep.22.

According to Mike Smith, Qingdao City and Shandong Province has formed a long-term friendship with Australia, and there will be great increase in the bilateral trade and the investment between both sides, which benefits from the cooperation between the two sides in natural sources and agricultural products as well as the free trade agreement between China and Australia.

Mike Smith said, with the increase of our business in China and the expanding of market from Australia and New Zealand to 34 areas covering Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East and America, the advantages of ANZ will benefit costumers in Qingdao and Shandong. We hope that we can enhance the cooperation with the local government and do more for the local economic development, Mike Smith said.

Huang Xiaoguang, the president and CEO of ANZ China also claimed that the branches in Qingdao would serve the local enterprises in Shandong, helping them expand their market to Asia Pacific.
