Advanced marine science ship goes into service in Qingdao

Xiang Yang Hong 01, China's most advanced marine science ship, went into service in Qingdao, a coastal city of east China's Shandong province, on June 18, 2016.

The ship is 99.8 meters long and 17.8 meters in width, and draws 5.6 meters. With displacement of 4,980 tonnes and a range of 15,000 nautical miles, it has plentiful remote sensing equipment to explore as deep as 10,000 meters.

Construction of the ship was launched in June, 2013. The ship will conduct its first task in the Indian Ocean.
