Recently, Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center started to demonstrate the fruits of the program ”Sailing into Schools” of Qingdao.

The year 2006 witnessed the official initiation of “Sailing into Schools” of Qingdao.

The first cartoon for popularizing sailing towards teenagers was compiled by the Qingdao government; moreover, sailing knowledge popularization was added to the “Sunshine Sports” program. Thus, a training system for teenager sailing was formed, which integrates classroom teaching, land training and maritime training.

As a recognition of Qingdao’s efforts in sailing popularization, the General Administration of Sport of China designated Qingdao as a “model city for popularizing teenager sailing sport of China”.

Up to 2016, 27,000 teenagers have participated in sailing training under the “Sailing into Schools” program. Besides, Qingdao is home to 107 sailing-featuring schools.
