By the end of July this year, the number of effective invention patents in Qingdao has climbed up to 20,033, topping Shandong province. From January to July in 2017, Qingdao’s patents granted were 3,365, also ranking first in Shandong.

In the first half of the year, the city's technological contracts put up for transaction totaled 4024, among which 466 worth altogether 3.33 billion yuan were transacted, representing an increase of 5.87% year on year. Among them, transactions of marine technology contracts reached 246 with a total value of 460 million yuan, an increase of 127.61 percent year on year, becoming a highlight of Qingdao’s technological innovation.
