Zhengying Village, regarded as "the first village of Yunnan," is located in Shiping County, Yunnan. It is famous for numerous cultural relics and a great deal of old wells, bridges, scriptures, monuments and trees. It also features many ancestral halls, such as Zheng Ancestral Hall, Wu Ancestral Hall and Chen Ancestral Hall. The Zheng and Chen ancestral halls are the most famous among them, both cultural relics under state protection. The ancestral halls and local houses are deeply connected to old southern culture and managed to retain much of the Ming and Han culture for 600 years. Chen's courtyard is the largest representative, owning carvings and frescoes of the Ming and Qing Dynasty.

How to get there: Take a bus to Zhenying from downtown Shiping County (3 yuan) or hire a car

Tips: 1. There is no hotel, but farmhouse lodging is available, 30 yuan all inclusive

         2. A four-day tour is recommended. Day 1: Kunming-Shiping, visit Yuxi City and Tonghai County; Day 2: visit Zhenying Village and Xiushan Town; Day 3: visit Shipin County; Day 4: Return to Kunming or visit Jianshui County.
