Three bombs have killed 16 people and wounded 153 others in separate attacks in northwestern Pakistan.

They come just days after the Taliban warned of suicide strikes if the military pressed forward with an offensive.

At least six people were killed and almost 70 others wounded after an apparent suicide car bomb attack at a police station in Pakistan's Northwest Frontier Province town of Bannu.

Rescuers ferried bodies and the wounded to hospitals, but some police remained buried by the rubble.

Later, a suicide bomb was detonated outside a bank associated with the army in Peshawar, the capital of the North West Frontier Province.

That killed ten people and wounded 79. The third bomb exploded in the northern town of Gilgit, wounding four people. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the Bannu attack.
