No. 3: Peking in Warfare

With veteran stars Liu Peiqi and Lei Kesheng as the leads, the TV series "Peking in Warfare" is set in 1930's and 40's China. It takes place during and after the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Using the point of view of Liu Peiqi's who plays a rickshaw driver, the production centers on the cooperation and combat between the Chinese Communist Party and the Kuomintang in the war of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Director Chen Guoxing aims to offer a war epic with a strong cultural flavor. Poetry recitals, western opera singing, and Peking opera crooning are featured in the TV series. The shooting style is also poetic, done in the style of an art flick.
