Xie allegedly forced the gamblers with the use of violence and illegal detention. She earned more than two million yuan from her gambling houses.

Xie is also the sister-in-law of Wen Qiang, the city's ex-justice chief and former deputy public security director. She took advantage of Wen's power and manipulated other police officers to cover up her gang activities.

A former deputy chief of a public security office in the city's Yubei district, named Guo Sheng, and a police officer named Gan Yong ... are also being prosecuted for taking bribes of 180 thousand yuan ... and protecting organized gangs under Xie's leadership.

The trial is expected to last two days.
