Windows 7 set for release

Microsoft says it will release its official version of Windows 7 on Thursday. After seven months of testing, the company says the new product has won high marks from users.

Microsoft says Windows 7 stresses simplicity of operation and sharing, with the focus on human-computer interface. The company says the new program will make it easier to search and use information.

The company says it expects Windows 7 to boost demand on the PC market. It has not yet made public the amount spent on promoting the product.
