China's major airline companies have launched winter promotions. The plans will adjust flight routes, and ticket prices, especially those to major scenic spots.

Starting from Wednesday, passengers from Beijing travelling to certain destinations, can enjoy big discounts. Airlines are cutting prices by more than 80 percent for tickets from Beijing to Xi'an and Yinchuan. While in Shanghai, passengers travelling to Xiamen, Chengdu and Fuzhou can expect similar discounts. Flights to some nearby cities are even offering tickets as low as 99 yuan.

Industry insiders say the discounts are part of a promotional push during the low season. They are predicting the tide of discounts will last until the middle of December. Prices are expected to go up as the New Year approaches.
