Yang Jiechi said Chinese leaders have already met with officials from the new Japanese government on a number of occasions in order to strengthen relations. Yang called on both countries to maintain high-level mutual visits and economic dialogues to deepen cooperation. He suggested that Japan and China work together to ensure the peace and stability of East Asia, including on measures to bring the DPRK back to six-party nuclear talks.

They also discussed the climate change issue. Okada agreed that Japan and China should increase communication in all areas to enhance mutually beneficial relations.
