The Ministry of Public Security has launched a campaign to crack down on pornography web sites run on wireless networks for mobile phones. The campaign has won the support from other departments and telecommunication companies.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has required the country's three largest mobile phone carriers to check their business on wireless networks. The ministry also ordered them to end any cooperation with providers running pornography sites or supplying relevant information.

China Mobile, the country's largest telecommunication operator, said the company has blocked over four hundred pornography sites on its network access to cellphones. Three fourths of the sites originated from overseas.

Meanwhile, two suspects accused of running pornography sites, and posting information and photos on wireless networks were arrested by police in Fujian province. Trials for the two cases are underway.
