You can look forward to a 1 US dollar bill and a 50 dollar bill as part of the "Lucky Money Note" packages featuring traditional Chinese festivals. Both will be available from December 2nd local time.

The theme for the 1 dollar bill is the Year of Tiger, while the 50 dollar bill features the dragon boat. The Tiger notes have serial numbers beginning with 8888. For many Chinese people, the number eight represents success, wealth and prosperity. The Tiger is one of the 12 zodiac animals of the Chinese Lunar Calendar.

The Dragon Boat note has a par value of 50 dollars, with serial numbers also beginning with 8888. The Dragon Boat festival is one of China's traditional events which falls on the fifth day of the fifth month on Chinese lunar calendar.

With Americans getting ever more interested in Chinese culture, the US Treasury Department has said it wants to add more Chinese elements to its banknotes, to make them more exciting, and also to help US people learn more about the Chinese way of life.
