Twenty-five years ago, a seven year old girl was kidnapped and sold hundreds of kilometers away from her home. But she never gave up hopes of returning. And now, with the help of social organizations and on-line networks, she has finally completed that long journey.
The end of a long journey home, no longer a little girl, she's now a grown-up and a mother. Her parents have waited 25 years for this moment.
Xiao Guangyan's mother said, "I miss her so much. I had to find her, and bring her back home. "
Xiao Guangyan's return is big news in her hometown in Guizhou province. Villagers celebrate the day as a festival.
Everything here looks familiar to Xiao, except that newly-built house. The warmth of her family takes her back to her childhood.
Xiao left here at seven years old, when she was separated from her sister at a local fair. She was kidnapped in the crowds, and sold to a village in Fujian province. There she was taken to a new family and renamed. But she remembered her original and her parents' names in the hope of seeing them again one day.
Xiao said, "Finding my mum and dad has long been my hope."
But the journey home has been difficult. She tried many ways of contacting home but failed.
Her hope was raised when she found an organization from her home town in Guizhou province which helps families search for their missing members. The organization posted Xiao's profile on its web-page. And news about her parents came through in just a month.
Now, hand in hand, arm in arm with her family, Xiao's long journey has found a happy ending. Her lessons and experiences are an example to thousands of others who have faced a similar separation.
