If you had three years to tour China, what would you plan? What would you expect to see and find? The answers can be found at the Capital Museum in Beijing.

The three-year-long journey covers a distance of nearly 5,000 kilometers. From east to west, and north to south, the route includes the silk road, the ancient canal of Beijing and Hangzhou and the protected area of the Qiang ethnic group in southwest Sichuan province. The rich cultural legacy is displayed in Beijing's Capital Museum through sound, image and language.

The most famous four branded new year's wood-carved paintings are on display. They are from Fengxiang in northwestern Shaanxi province, Yangliuqing in northern Tianjin municipality, Taohuawu from eastern Suzhou city and Mianzhu in southwestern Sichuan.

Craftsmen from Yangzhou also provide a live demonstration of the complicated block printing skills which date back 13 hundred years.

The exhibition runs till Wednesday at the Capital Museum.
