Cases involving multiple organized crime rings in the Southwest municipality of Chongqing have now ended. 79 suspects from three alleged criminal organizations have received sentences at three municipal courts.

Chen Zhiyi the leader of a 26 member criminal gang received the death sentence along with 3 associates. Other members received jail terms from two and a half years to life imprisonment.

The members faced a total of 22 charges.

According to the prosecution, the gang murdered three people, operated a gambling syndicate that netted 30 million yuan, and offered loans at high interest rates.
