Local herdsmen suffered greatly. A county in the norther part of the region helped more than 100 families and thirty thousand sheep move to the southern area of Yinshan Mountain. Local governments are providing them with necessities, including feed for their livestock.

In Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, several avalanches fell in Altay prefecture. About 70 thousand cubic meters of snow blocked Qinghe county roads, stranding 5 thousand people. Local governments are organizing crews to clear roads. After two days of hard work, highways reopened.

Three thousands horses are starving in Jimunai county. The persistent snow is severely hindering supplies and fodder from reaching the pasture. Local officials decided to move the horses to a safer place. After a 70 kilometer trek, the horses arrive at a new township.

The onslaught of heavy snow and the cold snap is forcing many wild animals to move south in the search of food. Staff at the nature reserve are providing food to help them during the extreme winter.
