The Chinese medical team is back at home after its two-week mission in the quake-hit country. It was the first medical aid mission for Chinese military professionals in Latin America, and the farthest from the country.

The team arrived in Beijing Wednesday morning. Its members received a warm welcome at the airport.

Liu Wendou, Head of Chinese Medical Team, said, "As military medical professionals, we feel very proud of our mission. And we've drawn much experience from this mission. That gives us more confident for our tasks in the future."

The team consists of 40 military medical professionals. During their 15-days in Port-au-Prince, they treated nearly four thousand patients, disinfected a total area of fifty-thousand square meters, and distributed more than 20 thousand copies of brochures on drinking water sanitation and disease control.

All members of the team were enthusiastic about their assignment and worked long and hard to do as much as they could for the people. They made good friends with Haitian people and volunteers.

To help Haiti re-establish medical stability, the Chinese team invited Haitian doctors and nurses to work with them and trained them. They also turned over their ambulant cure station to the Haitian health section.
