The PLA troops stationed in Yunnan province have traveled to rural villages transporting water to those in need. Many soldiers say have been touched by the solidarity of people, especially children, suffering through the drought.

Soldiers were visibly moved after seeing the severity of the situation.

Students travel a dozen kilometers daily to fetch water from the well in a nearby village.

The teachers here are busy with their classes, with little time to fetch water from far away themselves. Fortunately, their students have willingly come to their aid.

Yinkan Primary school teacher said, "Some took their own water-pot, others took bottles. They put them at the door of my office. I didn't expect that. Teaching is my duty and is the least I can do. They have travelled such a long way to fetch water for me. I am very moved. They never told me things like "I like you" but their actions speak louder than words."

The PLA hopes to regularly supply bottled water to the village for the duration of the drought.
