The floods have caused damage in all six counties in Altay Prefecture. Emergency funds are being used to evacuate people from hazardous areas, as well as reinforce river banks and divert flood waters.

The Alakbek River's water level dropped on Wednesday, as the temperature fell by 7 degrees Celsius. Farmland on both sides of the river has been submerged by water since last Friday. Soldiers and villagers have been reinforcing the river's embankment to prepare for the next flood peak.
