The State Council has reiterated efforts on emission cut, and stressed to make balance between energy saving and efficient, and economic development and exploration.

The comments were made during a meeting chaired presided over Premier Wen Jiabao on Wednesday. Premier Wen called for techniques, facilities and backward production measure that lead to too much waste of resources and serious pollution must be eliminated.

It called for economic reconstructing to aid resource conservation and environmental protection. Premier Wen also called on improving supervision, management and law enforcement of pollution, and reinforcing environmental education to enhance the public awareness of eco-system protection.

Meanwhile, according to statistics from the State Council, China's state owned companies have achieved their emission cut goal on sulfur dioxide and chemical oxygen demand set by the 11th five year environmental protection plan faster than expected. In recent years, China's five biggest power generating corporations spent tens of billions of yuan to upgrade their facilities. This can help them effectively collect greenhouse gas, and achieve emission cuts.
