Rainstorms that have lingered in south China's Guangdong province for days have finally shown signs of easing. Provincial authorities have lifted the emergency response mechanism that's been in place for the past two days.

Torrential downpours hit many parts of Guangdong at dusk on Sunday, prompting authorities to activate a third-level emergency response mechanism. The largest volume of rainfall was recorded on Sunday in a village in Maomin City, amounting to nearly 250 millimeters.

More than 1,200 hectares of farmland and over 30,000 residents have been affected in Qingyuan and Yangjiang alone. Economic losses have surpassed 400 million yuan. Rainfall began to weaken on Tuesday throughout the province. And water levels of major rivers and lakes receded below the alert level.
