About 500 kindergartens, primary and high schools in Beijing have hired more than two-thousand professional security guards to beef up protection.

The guards have been jointly organized by the Beijing Public Security Bureau, Beijing Municipal Commission of Education and Beijing Security Service General Company. The guards will maintain security presence and patrols around the school grounds. They'll be based there in an office and report any incidents to police and school officials. More guards will be hired for the city's other 45 thousand kindergartens, primary and high schools when required.

A student's parent said, "The school attaches great importance to its security. There are more teachers, security guards and police."
