Singapore is a world-famous garden city and the orchid is its national flower. Singapore has bred a special kind of Orchid for the Shanghai World Expo to symbolize both cities' vitality as metropolises.

"Dendrobium Singapore Shanghai Symphony" is a rare species of orchid bred specially for the Expo. Its jade and gold-hued color symbolizes the beauty of the two cities, Shanghai and Singapore.

Leong See Kay, Dorector of Singapore Pavilion, said, "The five petals are an emerald color. Only the one in the middle has such colorful stripes. This is what makes this flower so special. It symbolizes the elegance and prosperity of the two cities as well as the deep friendship between Singapore and China."

Visitors can get a sight of a tropical paradise with golden orchids and blue-green ferns on the roof of the Singapore Pavilion.

The verdant garden, called "Floral Finale" has been designed by Singapore National Parks.

The Singapore Pavilion, titled "Urban Symphony", shows the contribution of Singapore in the field of city planning, water treatment, and environmental services. The harmony of urban and nature, the creativity and diverse-culture are the key messages the Singapore Pavilion delivers.
