World No Tobacco Day is an important day for a lot of smokers. The habit influenced people all over the world, including 86 year old Zhou Longfa. On Friday, he successfully said goodbye to 60 years of smoking. Peter Koveos, has more details of his accomplishment.

The man with a crown is 86 year old Zhou Longfa from Taiwan. In order to help his son build a new house, Zhou took part in a quit smoking competition and won a 300 thousand yuan bonus after he quit the bad habit for more than a month.

Zhou Longfa, winner of the competition, said, "I'm happy to win, I want to thank my son for his encouragement. I won't smoke any more despite the competition being over."

A doctor checked nicotine levels over and over again to ensure Zhou really quit. Selected from more than 25 thousand participants, Zhou took great efforts in quitting after 60 years of lighting up.

Son of Zhou Longfa said, "He has been smoking for more than 60 years, but when he found out that quitting could gain him 300 thousand yuan, he decided to take part. He knew I needed that money to build a new house."

After winning, Zhou suffered an ulcer on his way to Taipei to receive the bonus. He says, what he did is for his family and the family union.
