South Korean President Lee Myung-bak says his country has referred the case of the country's sunken warship to the United Nations Security Council.

He made the announcement while addressing the Asian Security Meeting, also known as the Shangri-la Dialogue in Singapore.

The country delivered a letter to the UN Security Council regarding the sinking of the country's naval warship in March.

The letter outlines an international probe team's findings that the warship "Cheonan" was sunk by a torpedo attack from the DPRK.

UN Security Council President, Claude Heller, confirmed that he has received the letter from South Korea's ambassador to the UN and the 15-nation body will meet over the case.
