The sink-hole in Guangxi is just one of many such cases in China since late April.

In Changning County of Sichuan province, 26 pits formed within a week beginning on April 27th. The largest is 40 meters in diameter and 40 meters deep. Five nearby homes were evacuated. People say they heard the sound of flowing water in some sink-holes.

Several were also found in Sichuan's Yibin. A ground subsidence formed a pit of more than 400 square meters in Guangdong province's Meizhou city. Similar incidents have been reported in Zhejiang and Gansu Provinces.
