Giant footballs, model world cups, flags of the 32 teams, are all reminders of the South Africa World Cup. Soccer fever for this once in four years competition is sweeping the country.

One of the most obvious signs of people's enthusiasm is in sports equipment shops.

Many shops near Shenzhen Stadium, Guangdong Province, are opening special "World Cup Zones".

A salesman said, "Jerseys of the World Cup favorites like Spain and France are best sellers. We have 40 percent more customers than normal."

Nearly all world cup-related products are best sellers.

A salesman said, "Although this World Cup football costs more than a thousand yuan, people are still rushing to buy it. They sell out as soon as I put them on the shelf."

Invite your best friends to watch a game in a bar is one of the most popular activities. And the bar owners are using the opportunity to boost their business.

A bar owner said, "We are installing more TVs, especially large screens."

The bars are benefiting from people's thirst for a sporting atmosphere.

A bar owner said, "All the rooms for tonight's opening match are reserved. But the price hasn't changed much."

The World Cup is a feast for football fans but also a major business opportunity.
