The ongoing Shanghai World Expo is not only a window for peeking into various architectural styles and the latest technology, but it's also a global gallery of art.

One example is a painting exhibition that opened at the Pavilion of the World Trade Center Association.

The ten paintings are the brainchild of China's artist Wang Qinsheng. The themes range from the mountains in fall, and the field covered with snow, to the pavilion on the riverbank.

By using oil brushes and colors, the artist re-interprets Chinese landscape painting.

The trees, stones, and houses are all symbolic elements of traditional Chinese painting, but Wang depicts them with subtle western oil brushwork.
