Storms and persistent winds have been pushing oil from the ruptured well in the Gulf of Mexico, into Lake Pontchartrain north of New Orleans.

The pollution is creating concern in the small fishing community operating near the lake.

Clean up crews have already collected more than 16 hundred pounds of oil and waste from the area. Although many residents say they feel confident in clean up efforts, weather is hampering capabilities on the water.

The lake area lost several hundred kilometers of coastline and wetlands after Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005.

Fishing industries are the primary source of income for the area's residents. But many are fearing the progress made since Hurricane Katrina, will be lost due to the spill.
